The Czech Railway Company has ordered 50 passenger rail cars of the Type Viaggio Comfort with a consortium of Škoda Transportation and Siemens. Siemens takes over engineering, the production of the raw modules as well as the delivery of the bogies and is responsible for dynamic commissioning and registration. The bogies come from the SIEMENS World Competence Centre for Bogies Graz, which is strengthened due to this. The total order value of the showcase project amounts to about Euro 115 million.

As for the wagons that will be delivered within the next 32 months, the supplier’s stakes are put on comfort: The first-class wagon is located at the start of the set of wagons. It is followed by a multifunctional second-class wagon with an information point and a compartment for the train attendants. Here there are three seats for wheelchair users, charging stations for electrically driven wheelchairs, a barrier-free toilet as well as a lift enabling wheelchair users to get on and off. For families with children, an area will be equipped with a cinema, buggy storage places and a diaper changing table. This wagon is followed by two more second-class wagons. Then there will be the final wagon, which also is equipped as a second-class wagon. On the whole, the unit has a length of 132 metres (approx. 3.28 feet), has 330 seats equipped with WLAN, power outlets and USB connection and has a top speed of 200 kilometres per hour (approx. 124.27 miles per hour).
